July 2017 NPO Salary Survey Report

THE ARGRS-JULY 2017-NPO SALARY SURVEY REPORT IS AVAILABLE-ORDER A COPY AND HAVE ACCESS TO NPO PAY & HR PRACTICES IN SOUTH AFRICA

The ARGRS -  July 2017 NPO - Salary Survey Report covering sixty-seven (67) NPO participant organisations, over 300 benchmark role salary tables, salaries by grades tables, and over 7 000 participant NPO organisation employed in the NPO Sector in South Africa. See download 1, below, for a list of the NPO participant organisations as well as appendix 2,  for a list of the salary tables reported on within the relevant occupational families below:

  • Advocacy / business development / communications / dialogue / fund raising / marketing / media / public relations and stakeholder relationships
  • Community aged / auxiliary / baby / child / youth / disabled care services
  • Finance / grants / internal audit and associated support services
  • General – includes the CEO / knowledge management / secretarial, receptionists / front office / clerical / building and office maintenance
  • Human resources
  • Internships / learnerships (covers all intern and learnership positions with the exception of legal and medical occupational families)
  • Information / communications technology
  • Logistics / procurement / supply chain
  • L e g a l
  • Medical / health care programs / projects
  • Monitoring and evaluation / quality assurance (excludes health / medical programs)
  • Operations / programs / projects (excludes medical and legal positions)
  • Social research programs / projects (excludes medical research roles)
  • Social housing and life rights
  • Training, development and capacity building (excludes medical positions)

All compensation levels have been analysed exhaustively into Paterson Broad Bands and Single Grades.  In addition, we have included correlation equivalents for Peromnes, Task and Hay for each role into lower, median and upper quartiles and averages as follows:

Annual Guaranteed Pay:  basic salary, the value of all cash and non-cash benefits and allowances and guaranteed total compensation levels; 
Annual Variable Pay:  the value of performance incentive bonus “caps”; 
Annual “total-cost-to-company”: the total value of all guaranteed and variable pay; and
For Senior Management and Executive Positions data is also sorted in accordance with the NGO Sector and Organisation Size Parameters

Salaries by grade tables are also included for Paterson broad and single grades for ALL occupational families.  In addition, salaries by grade tables are also included  for community social services, legal and medical / health care occupational families.

In addition, we have also reported on the following human resource practices for the NPO Sector in South Africa:

Preamble and introduction, the link between salary increases and inflation, survey sample and data source, remuneration trends, performance incentive pay, work related allowances, working hours, normal annual leave entitlements, additional annual leave entitlements based on length of service criteria, sabbatical and / or “once off” additional leave, additional annual leave during the Christmas / new year shut down period, maternity leave, family responsibility leave, normal, and extended sick leave benefits on full or reduced pay, exam and study leave. In addition an analysis of employer provided “good practice” cash and non-cash benefits / allowances pay practices and remuneration paid to NED – non-executive directors are also included
